The newest version of the Standards for Management Information Systems in Canadian Health Service Organizations is known as the MIS Standards 2022.
These national standards are used across the health care system, including hospitals, long-term care, home care, mental health and addiction, and primary care, to collect and report financial and statistical data about their operations.
This is a condensed version of the 2022 Standards for Management Information Systems. Chapters have been reworked and re-worded and have been shortened by removing redundant material. The charts of accounts, previous revisions and principles and procedures of the MIS Standards 2022 remain intact.
The platforms for this condensed version of the MIS Standards 2022 include a PDF and XLS worksheets. The two platforms have been zipped separately, and both zipped files need to be downloaded.
Data providers to the CMDB should be referring to the MIS Standards 2022, which came into effect as of April 1, 2022.
Vendors, such as software developers, are required to purchase these through the Vendor Licensing Page (VLP) and to sign the CIHI Health Information Standards and Specifications Agreement (HISSA). Vendors are to email help@cihi.ca in order to enter inquire about entering into the HISSA.
