These reports describe the results of re-abstraction studies of the Discharge Abstract Database (DAD). The DAD contains demographic, administrative and clinical data for hospital discharges (inpatient acute, chronic and rehabilitation) and day surgeries in Canada. This part of CIHI's quality assurance process measures, at the national level, selected administrative data, areas of coding excellence and areas for improvement; it also informs the development of tools such as coding standards and the CMG grouper.
