The aim of these reports is to use CIHI data to add to the understanding of ED wait time in Canada and provide new and actionable information for decision-makers.
Understanding Emergency Department Wait Times: Who Is Using Emergency Departments and How Long Are They Waiting? focused on the characteristics of patients visiting EDs and the overall length of time people spent in EDs.
Understanding Emergency Department Wait Times: How Long Do People Spend in Emergency Departments in Ontario? provides population-based information on ED waits from the time people arrive until the time they are discharged or admitted to hospital, and some of the factors associated with these times.
Understanding Emergency Department Wait Times: Access to Inpatient Beds and Patient Flow explores wait times and factors associated with waiting in the ED for access to a inpatient bed.
Emergency Departments and Children in Ontario explores wait times and the ED experience for children.

No. Regardless of the language in which the publication itself is available, the series screen provides a general description of the publications in that series and, for each edition, gives you the option of choosing the language and the media type (for example, paper or PDF) of the publication that you want. CIHI often publishes reports in both English and French, though there is sometimes a delay between the publication of the English version and the availablility of the French version. The series information will always be available in both English and French, even if the report itself is only available in one language.
If you want the downloadable version of an available publication and the price is free, as is often the case, you can simply download the file (usually a PDF) by clicking the Download link. If your browser does not support PDFs and you do not have a PDF viewer, you can download Adobe Acrobat Reader free of charge at Adobe.com. If the publication is not available in a downloadable media type or the price is not free, you will have to add it to your cart so that you can order it. You must be signed in before adding an item to your cart, so if you have not already done so, you will be redirected to the sign in screen.
If you wish to get more information about a publication before deciding to add it to your cart, click the View link under the Details column for the version of the publication that interests you. This will give you more detailed information about that particular publication.
