ICD-10-CA/CCI, (PDF)

Terms of Use of ICD-10-CA/CCI for PDF format

The World Health Organization (WHO) is the official publisher of the Tenth Revision of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-10) and holds the international copyright. The WHO has granted the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) the licence to enhance the ICD-10 classification to meet Canadian needs for the collection of morbidity data. This Canadian modification, ICD-10-CA, is a variable-axis classification that uses an alphanumeric code. The Canadian Classification of Health Interventions (CCI) was developed and is maintained solely by CIHI. CCI is a multi-axial and hierarchical classification that uses an alphanumeric code. Both ICD-10-CA and CCI (collectively, ICD-10-CA/CCI) are owned and copyrighted by CIHI in English and in French.

CIHI is making ICD-10-CA/CCI available on a read-only basis for non-commercial use related to the Canadian healthcare system. ICD-10-CA/CCI cannot be reproduced in whole or in part for any purpose. For greater certainty and without limiting the generality of the above statement, you cannot modify, repurpose, copy, distribute, sell, or otherwise share ICD-10-CA/CCI, and you cannot embed ICD-10-CA/CCI into software or create derivative works of ICD-10-CA/CCI. You can only view ICD-10-CA/CCI for personal or internal use. In addition, you cannot reverse engineer or apply any other process or procedure to derive the source code of the ICD-10-CA/CCI files, and you cannot attempt to defeat, avoid, bypass, remove, deactivate or otherwise circumvent any mechanism used to restrict or control the security and functionality of the ICD-10-CA/CCI files. If you wish to purchase a licence to the ICD-10-CA/CCI codes for other purposes, you may do so through CIHI’s online store or by contacting help@cihi.ca.

You will not alter, cover or remove any acknowledgement, copyright or other proprietary rights notice placed by CIHI or a third party on the ICD-10-CA/CCI. You obtain no title in or other rights to the ICD-10-CA/CCI beside those use rights expressly granted to you by these Terms of Use. If you become aware of any infringement of CIHI’s intellectual property rights in the ICD-10-CA/CCI, you will promptly notify CIHI and use commercially reasonable efforts to help CIHI protect those rights.

THE ICD-10-CA/CCI IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. YOU BEAR ALL RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH USE OF THE ICD-10-CA/CCI.

If you do not or cannot agree to the above Terms of Use, you may not access, view or use ICD-10-CA/CCI. If you access, view or use ICD-10-CA/CCI, you are indicating that you have understood and agreed to the above Terms of Use.

If you have received access to the ICD-10-CA/CCI through a separate licence agreement with CIHI, the terms of that separate licence agreement will prevail in the event, and to the extent, of any conflict or inconsistency between these Terms of Use and that separate licence agreement.

FAQ

The price you pay for an item depends on the type of organization to which you belong. Until you sign in, we do not know which price applies to you.

No. Regardless of the language in which the publication itself is available, the series screen provides a general description of the publications in that series and, for each edition, gives you the option of choosing the language and the media type (for example, paper or PDF) of the publication that you want. CIHI often publishes reports in both English and French, though there is sometimes a delay between the publication of the English version and the availablility of the French version. The series information will always be available in both English and French, even if the report itself is only available in one language.

If you want the downloadable version of an available publication and the price is free, as is often the case, you can simply download the file (usually a PDF) by clicking the Download link. If your browser does not support PDFs and you do not have a PDF viewer, you can download Adobe Acrobat Reader free of charge at Adobe.com. If the publication is not available in a downloadable media type or the price is not free, you will have to add it to your cart so that you can order it. You must be signed in before adding an item to your cart, so if you have not already done so, you will be redirected to the sign in screen.

If you wish to get more information about a publication before deciding to add it to your cart, click the View link under the Details column for the version of the publication that interests you. This will give you more detailed information about that particular publication.

The History link only appears on the top menu bar once you have signed in. To sign in, enter your username and password in the top-right corner of your screen.
