Dementia in Canada

The number of people living with dementia, including Alzheimer's disease, continues to rise. Over a 20-year time frame, it is estimated that the number of Canadians living with dementia would almost double due to the aging population and population growth. This rise will result in demands on Canada's health care systems and caregivers. Caring for seniors with dementia presents many complex issues and challenges, which differ as the disease progresses.
