This report examines people with COPD in Alberta who were hospitalized for any reason in the period 2012-2013 to 2013-2014, and compares the characteristics and health care use of high users of inpatient hospital care with those of low/moderate users. It also highlights regional variation in the prevalence of COPD and the health care use of COPD high users across Alberta's health zones. This work may help inform opportunities to improve management and care, and to reduce hospital use and costs.
