Health Indicators 2009 is a compilation of selected indicators from the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) and Statistics Canada. This report provides a measurement of health status, non-medical determinants of health, health-system performance and community and health-system characteristics. In view of the 10-year anniversary, this issue of the report also presents national trends over time for selected indicators focusing on the following six themes: heart attacks and cardiac revascularization; stroke; women's health and men's health - selected surgical procedures; hip fractures; joint replacements; and preventing hospital admissions. The aim of this information is to assist stakeholders and decision makers in the use and interpretation of the indicator data.
