Results of the National Survey on Medical Isotopes Supply Disruption Core

The shutdown of the Chalk River National Research Universal Reactor affected the supply of the most commonly used medical isotope, technetium-99m (Tc-99m), which is used in approximately 80% of nuclear medicine exams in Canada.

To better understand the effects of the isotope supply disruption on nuclear medicine sites in Canada, the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) administered the National Survey on Medical Isotopes Supply Disruption, a survey of nuclear medicine sites across Canada.
