Therapeutic Abortions Database (TADB)
The Therapeutic Abortions Database (TADB) is a national data holding that captures administrative, clinical and demographic information on women obtaining an induced abortion in Canada. The TADB also includes data on Canadian women who obtained an induced abortion in selected key US states, primarily along the United States–Canada border.
Source: Data suppliers include provincial and territorial ministries of health, hospitals, independent abortion clinics in Canada, and selected departments of health in the United States. Data Quality: Through our Data Quality Enhancement Program, CIHI strives to ensure that the quality of the information in our data holdings is suited to its intended uses, and that data users are provided good information about data quality.
Privacy Restrictions: Data disclosure is determined by CIHI's privacy principles and policies. The Privacy Impact Assessment of the Therapeutic Abortions Database (June 2003) (PDF) 320 KB evaluates, documents and addresses the privacy impacts of the TADB program and systems. CIHI is committed to completing PIAs on all its data holdings.
National abortion statistics are published annually in Statistics Canada's The Daily . Contact: ta@cihi.ca |
