Data Elements

  • Patient-specific treatment and outcome data on chronic kidney failure patients receiving renal replacement therapy in Canada, including:
    - patient demographics
    - risk factors
    - follow-up, including graft failures
  • Organ transplantation data, including:
    - number, type and outcome of vital organ transplants
    - number of living and cadaveric organ donors
    - number of patients on the transplant waiting list

Purpose

The purpose of CORR is to:

  • support CIHI's mandate
  • collect, process and analyse summary data on end-stage organ failure and organ transplants
  • provide a national view on end-stage organ failure statistics for comparative analyses and research studies
  • increase the availability of comparative material to facilitate better treatment decisions
  • provide statistics on long-term trends that can be used for planning and optimizing programs
  • provide a feedback mechanism to facilities, a quality assurance function for treatment, and a national standard for comparison
  • provide statistics to the health care industry, to enhance business decisions such as planning and resource allocation for renal treatment and transplant services
  • support related approved analysis and research

Data Quality

Through our Data Quality Enhancement Program, CIHI strives to ensure that the quality of the information in our data holdings is suited to its intended uses, and that data users are provided good information about data quality.

Privacy

Data disclosure is determined by CIHI's privacy principles and policies. CORR's privacy impact assessment (PDF) 94 KB demonstrates that its practices comply with these principles and policies.

Advisory Groups

The CORR Board of Directors is responsible for the policies of the register. The CORR Advisory Committee is responsible for data collection, analysis, and prioritization of ad hoc requests. The purpose of the Research Subcommittee is to promote research activity using CORR.
