CIHI: One of Canada’s Top 100 EmployersFifth annual Maclean’s list recognizes efforts to improve employees’ work lives
October 4, 2004—The Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) is delighted to announce that it has earned a spot in Canada’s Top 100 Employers, the annual listing by Mediacorp Canada Inc. For five years now, this book has recognized employers that distinguish themselves by creating a wonderful place to work. The list will also be published in this week’s Maclean’s magazine. To develop this year’s list, Mediacorp sent an invitation to over 6,000 of the fastest-growing employers in Canada. Employers were asked to complete an application process that included a detailed review of operations and HR practices. The review focused on seven key areas:
“Our innovative culture is what makes working here so satisfying. Our management practices aim to be highly responsive to our staff’s needs,” says Glenda Yeates, CIHI’s President and CEO. “Training and professional development opportunities, as well an industry-leading benefit package, make CIHI a good place to work and grow professionally. In 10 years, we’ve achieved amazing growth and attracted very talented people who work hard at taking health information further.” The Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) is an independent, pan-Canadian, not-for-profit organization working to improve the health of Canadians and the health care system by providing quality health information. CIHI’s mandate, as established by Canada’s health ministers in 1994, is to coordinate the development and maintenance of a common approach to health information for Canada. To this end, CIHI is responsible for providing accurate and timely information that is needed to establish sound health policies, manage the Canadian health system effectively and create public awareness of factors affecting good health.
